Arriving in Accrington with an hour to spare, we faced a little hiccup with a waterlogged car park. After a bit of negotiation (and some frozen grass), we secured a spot. The freezing zero-degree weather didn’t stop me from grabbing a warm Meat and Potato pie inside the stadium – a lifesaver! As we soaked in the pre-game vibes, snapping photos and exploring, little did we know the twists ahead. The players warming up hinted at pitch concerns, and just as the excitement peaked at kickoff time, bam! The game got called off due to a frozen pitch. Kicked off the day with a hearty breakfast at Tim Hortons in Birmingham, fueling up for the 3-hour train journey. First-class vibes on the CrossCountry train and a smooth transition to Great Western. Now, arriving at Swansea wasn’t all smooth sailing—those barriers had us in a bit of a queue! Once through, we took a leisurely stroll to the stadium, hitting up the club store for some merch. Security checks were on point, keeping the football spirit high. The game itself? Swansea City vs. Huddersfield Town, and it was a nail-biter! Despite the cold, the stadium’s modern vibes and the passionate fans kept the energy up. Sadly, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, but the real winner was the overall experience. Despite the journey covering a short 1.5 hours, we found ourselves at The Kassam Stadium, the current home to Oxford United, which is slated for relocation in the summer of 2026
