About The Challenge

Football is more than just a sport — it’s a shared language, a source of passion, and for us, a way of life.

What started as a dream shared between a dad and his now 12-year-old son quickly became one of the most ambitious and heartfelt football journeys of recent years. The 92 FC Challenge began with a simple, powerful idea: to visit every single football league ground in England and Wales — all 92 of them — as a way to channel our love for the beautiful game into something meaningful, memorable, and unique.

Over the course of this adventure, we found ourselves immersed not just in football, but in the stories, communities, and people that make the game what it is. This is our journey — and it’s far from over.

The Beginning: When Football Dreams Met Reality

As lifelong Liverpool supporters, my son and I have always been bound by our shared love for the club. Watching matches together, collecting memorabilia, learning about the club’s history — these moments defined our weekends and bonded us in ways only football can. But as any Liverpool fan will know, actually getting to watch our beloved Reds at Anfield is no easy feat.

Despite being on the waiting list for a season ticket for over 15 years, I found myself still over 5,000 places away. The ticket system — with its memberships, ballots, and unpredictable luck — made every attempt to visit the stadium a source of stress and frustration. We felt like we were chasing something we might never reach.

But football is nothing if not about resilience. And so rather than allow disappointment to take hold, we decided to turn it into something positive. If we couldn’t get to Anfield regularly, why not visit every other ground in the Football League? Why not use our passion as fuel for an adventure — one that would take us to every corner of the country, let us witness the full spectrum of English football, and most importantly, give us memories to last a lifetime?

And with that, the 92 FC Challenge was born.

Our mission? To visit every one of the 92 football league grounds from the 2023-2024 and the 2024-2025 season.

We officially kicked off our challenge on 21 September 2023 at Turf Moor, the home of Burnley FC. We set out to complete our mission within five years, but we knew from the beginning that it wouldn’t be easy. With school, work, travel costs, ticket availability, and the sheer scale of the journey.

But driven by passion and teamwork, we finished it in less than two.

On 26 April 2025, we visited Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace, marking our 94th and final ground (of the 2024-2025 season) — a finish that came exactly 585 days after that first kick-off at Turf Moor. (We say 94, not 92, because of the ever-changing nature of league football. With promotions, relegations, and stadium moves, we expanded our challenge to ensure we captured the full scope of league football across two seasons.)

Along the way, we experienced:

Every single ground had its own character — from the towering modern arenas of the Premier League to the traditional terraces of League Two. Every fan base welcomed us in their own way, and every visit gave us a new story to tell.

We captured these memories through blogs and vlogs, which you can explore on our site. Each entry offers a snapshot of that day’s game, the stadium experience, the people we met, and the emotions we felt. It’s more than just a checklist — it’s a time capsule of a journey that brought us closer together and deeper into the footballing community.

2025–2026: The Challenge Continues

Though we’ve completed the original 92, our journey hasn’t ended. Football keeps evolving, and we’re keeping pace.

This season — 2025–2026 — sees us adding three more grounds to our expanding list:

We’re excited to visit these new additions and continue growing our story. The challenge might have been “completed,” but our passion for groundhopping, football culture, and making memories is very much alive.

A Tribute: Remembering Diogo Jota and André Silva

While our journey has been filled with joy and celebration, it has also reminded us of the fragility of life.

As proud Liverpool fans, we were devastated to hear of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and André Silva, following a road traffic accident in Spain. The loss of two brilliant players and, more importantly, two remarkable human beings, is a heartbreak felt by the entire football community.

To Diogo’s and André’s families, teammates, and friends, we send our deepest condolences.
Our Number 20 will always be remembered — not just for his skill and tenacity on the pitch, but for the passion and positivity he brought to the game.

You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Europe Awaits: A Thank You to Liam

Over nearly two years, my son Liam has dedicated countless hours, weekends, and school holidays to make this journey possible. From freezing nights in League Two to buzzing Premier League matchdays, he stood beside me with unshakable enthusiasm and love for the game.

As a thank you for his commitment and heart, I made him a promise: we would take our football journey to Europe.

We now plan to visit some of Europe’s most iconic football grounds, from the drama-filled nights of the Champions League to the charm of historic stadiums in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and beyond.

We want to walk through the gates of:

But just as we’ve needed help throughout our UK journey, we once again reach out to the wider football family.

If you have contacts, advice, or ticket opportunities for matches in Europe, we would be incredibly grateful for any support you can offer. Whether it’s for club games, European competitions, or even national fixtures — every ticket brings us one step closer to making these dreams a reality.

Why This Challenge Matters

This project was never just about football.

It’s about creating meaningful experiences. It’s about father and son. It’s about resilience, dedication, and celebrating something that brings millions of people together across cultures and borders. It’s about community — whether it’s a packed stadium or a fan who offers you a spare ticket just because they believe in what you’re doing.

The 92 FC Challenge became a journey of human connection as much as it was about sport. We were welcomed by strangers, supported by fans from all clubs, and constantly reminded of the generosity and unity that exists in the world of football.

We’ve laughed, we’ve shouted, we’ve sometimes cried. And we’ve created something we’ll cherish forever.

Join Us on the Next Leg

Watch our vlogs, read our matchday blogs, share your thoughts, and if you see us at a game — come say hello.

Thank you for being part of our adventure.
