After a long day at work, Matchday 52 involved a swift return home, with just 30 minutes to change and grab a bite before braving the rush-hour traffic for the journey down to Cheltenham. Fortunately, traffic conditions were favourable, and despite only arriving home at 17:00, we managed to reach Cheltenham and find parking by 18:40. Our choice of parking spot on Prestbury Road was strategic, ensuring we avoided the inconvenience of double yellow lines. A brief shortcut through a nearby housing estate led us to the stadium, just a brisk 5-minute walk away. Our first stop was the club shop, where we picked up our matchday program (£3) and scarf (£14), albeit in two separate transactions, using different credit card machines.

After snapping some photos of the exterior, we made our way into the ground and found our seats in the main stand, known as the HGV stand. While Liam embarked on a quick stadium VLOG, I explored the different types of stands, noting that one to our left was entirely standing, mirroring the lower tier of the stand we were in. Unfortunately, the seats were remarkably uncomfortable, and legroom was severely cramped, making for a less-than-pleasant experience.

We ventured to locate the toilets and grab a drink, which turned out to be a short walk behind the standing area to our left. Interestingly, it seemed accessible without a ticket check, although Liam opted to remain seated. Ordering a hot chocolate and a Bovril, we were surprised when told the total was £5.50, as prices were not displayed.

Returning to our seats with our drinks, disaster struck when a nearby patron accidentally knocked over Liam’s hot chocolate, leaving it on the floor to cool. Despite this mishap, the atmosphere within the stadium was lively, with Cheltenham Town fans leading the chants and drumbeats throughout the game.

Despite Peterborough United’s higher standing at 4th place and Cheltenham Town languishing in 21st, the home team outshone their opponents, securing a 2-0 victory. The scoreline could have been more in favour of Cheltenham, much to the surprise and delight of the home fans, who hailed the rare display of dominance.

We decided to leave on the 88th minute to avoid the rush at the toilets and exit gates. This decision paid off, as we encountered no traffic on our journey home, arriving back exactly an hour after leaving Cheltenham, albeit with a minor hiccup due to poor lighting and signage causing us to miss our motorway exit.
