Molineux Moments: A Cold Night with the Young Wolves
Today, our football adventure took us to the closest match we’ve attended so far, right in Wolverhampton. Despite it being an evening game, we anticipated not getting home too late. However, our journey had a challenging start, with a major road closure due to a traffic accident, leading to a diversion and heavier traffic than expected. To make matters more exciting, our train from Sandwell and Dudley was almost missed, and we made a swift dash onto the awaiting train. The train journey into Wolverhampton was relatively painless, followed by a short 15-minute walk to the stadium, a new experience for us but made easy with the help of Google Maps.
Surprisingly, despite being a U21s game, the surroundings were quiet outside Molineux. Had it not been for the screens inside the stadium, we might not have even realized a game was taking place. We took a few photos and walked around the stadium as our tickets only indicated “area WL2,” which didn’t correspond to anything outside. Following a couple of fellow supporters, we found our way to the Billy Wright Stand. Once inside, we noticed only a few refreshment stands were open, with long queues. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any programs or merchandise to buy, leaving Liam without his coveted matchday scarf. Given the chilly weather, we were surprised that there was no opportunity for fans to purchase hats and scarves, which could have generated extra revenue for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Before the match, A4 pieces of paper were handed out to fans eager to know the team news. Interestingly, there were no announcements or availability of the match attendance or indication of match time for the supporters. Despite these minor inconveniences, the game itself was quite entertaining, with Wolves delivering impressive football. At one point, it seemed we might be headed for another goalless draw, but the last 15 minutes of the match witnessed three goals, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Wolves. This win propelled them to joint-top position in the Premier League International Cup. It was the coldest night we’ve experienced so far this year, and we were grateful for our warm and comfortable train journey back.
This game may not have been our most enjoyable, but it’s all part of the football journey. We’re already looking forward to our next game on Saturday, watching Bradford City take on Wrexham.

Bradford City Vs Harrogate Town

Barnsley Vs Burton Albion
Matchday 92 marked the conclusion of our journey through League One, meaning we have now completed three out of the four leagues, with only two League Two grounds remaining. With a 12:30 kick-off and a pre-arranged meeting with a representative from Barnsley FC at 10:00, it meant an extremely early

Leyton Orient Vs Reading
Matchday 91 was our penultimate game in League One and one that required an early start to the day, which meant we were to board the only direct train from Stourbridge Junction to London Marylebone, departing at 08:19. This service is operated by Chiltern Railways, and past experience suggested
Keep it up, boys; great to see you chalking the Grounds off and looking forward to the next few. Wrap up over the next few months as it may get a tad chilly…..
